ASTER – NUEVA EDICIÓN

ART – SCIENCE – TECHNOLOGY – ENGINEERING: RESEARCH FOR + WITH SOCIETY

WHAT IS ASTER+S?

ASTER+S is a project of the University of Seville that gives methodological support to pilot experiences in the cultural (scientific + artistic + humanistic) and educational fields, through the creation of works of art inspired by science and developed according to our «eco-SciArt methodology».

How do we apply the «eco-SciArt methodology»?

OUR HACKATHON

WHAT IS A HACKATHON?

A hackathon is an event in which different teams from the creative and technological field meet to participate in the creation of a prototype that solves a problem. In our case, these prototypes will be interdisciplinary works of art that provide a solution to the dissemination of a series of scientific content proposed by our collaborating researchers.

From January 29 to January 31, 2025

At the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Informática of the University of Seville (Av. Reina Mercedes s/n, 41012 Seville).

PREVIOUS WEBINARS

1st Webinar [online] (January 10, 2025) Webinar (online) with MARÍA PTK

2nd Webinar [online] (January 20, 2025) Webinar (online) with Paula Bruna and Raquel Ajetes

Participate in the live webinars with Maria PTQK, Paula Bruna and Raquel Ajetes, experts in the field of SciArt. In these webinars we will present the ASTER+S project and make an introduction to the eco-SciArt methodology.

DURING THE HACKATHON

1st Hackathon Day: Meet participants + Develop a common understanding of “SciArt Seeds” + Create interdisciplinary teams.

2nd Hackathon Day: Brainstorming to develop the artistic concept and create the SciArt proposal, which we call “SciArt Flowers”.

3rd day of the Hackathon: Presentation of the “SciArt Flowers” projects in video format (3 min long).

AFTER THE HACKATHON

During three months, the interdisciplinary creative teams will develop their final artworks. Thus, the flowers will become the “SciArt fruits”.

The selected “SciArt flowers” will be part of a group exhibition that will open prior to the summer of 2025. The exhibition will invite visitors to immerse themselves in the art installations, not only enjoying them, but also exploring the deep scientific and humanistic dimensions from which they draw their inspiration.

A selection of the exhibition will be on display during the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria.
